Career Update: Virtual Litigation Paralegal at DeVenny Paralegal Services

Today I am introducing my newest job and employer. Effective now, I am a virtual litigation paralegal at DeVenny Paralegal Services. Oh, wait, that’s ME. (I knew you would pick up on that right away.)

For those of you that remember me from my blogging days at Practical Paralegalism, and my awesome co-hosting days of The Paralegal Voice, with Vicki Voisin, you know I have a deep and abiding fascination for virtual paralegals. I stalked, I mean, admired them from afar. I blogged about them, invited them on the podcast, and eagerly followed their tweets and newsletters. I wanted to be one, sometimes looking at my humble home office, with as many monitors as I could fit on one table top, plus my beloved ScanSnap, and thinking, “You could be real. You and me together all the time, making beautiful music…and whipping messy medical records into shape for attorneys everywhere.” (Think world peace, only confined to law offices.) In a world of paralegal rock stars, virtual paralegals were my equivalent of, well, Prince. (I still wake up every morning with a sense of disbelief that he is no longer in the world.)

I will focus on offering attorneys what I have done best for over 27 years in civil injury cases, including reviewing, organizing, and summarizing complex medical records and bills, so that they have everything they need for case evaluation, meetings with experts and witnesses, depositions, settlement, and trial. I will harness my favorite paperless technology to offer them the best of both worlds, speedy and secure electronic wizardry, and of course, the option of actual paper as well if needed.

From my previous incarnation as a blogger, I know that you guys have many other blogs to read and important places to be, and that I might have about 37 seconds of your attention, which I do not take for granted. I will be blogging here about life from a home office, whatever else catches my attention in the world of law and technology, and probably begging for online coffee klatches after I find myself chatting with my Keurig. (Which we will name in a future post.)

So, I am now a virtual paralegal, and I am beyond excited. I hope you will check out the new website created by the incredibly talented Tina Marie Hilton of Girly Girl Geek Designs. And yes, I would be ever so grateful if you will share the link,, with any attorneys that might need that project-based experienced litigation support staffer who genuinely loves and understands medical records for back-burnered, last-minute, overflow, or time crunch projects.

Thanks, guys. For all of you that have asked about my blog over the past few years, I’m really and truly back.
