Goodwill Career Wear Challenge: Lynne

Goodwill Career Wear Challenge: Lynne

Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are God. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are God. ~ Christopher Hitchens

When I set up these shots, Tux was fascinated by the camera. But as soon I jumped in the pic (remote on the blink), he kindly shared the Royal Hinder Parts instead. I recommend you focus on the sweet yellow kitty face painted on the gourd.

The Deets: Roulette tapestry dress ($5 Goodwill); Report sandals (a couple of years old);
Heirloom pendent; more hair whacked off at Great Clips

I’ve worn this Nordstrom brand dress from Goodwill at least 5 times, so I figure we’re down to a dollar a wear. It garners lots of compliments – and shock at its humble origins, so it’s worth way more to me than a dollar a wear.

Me Mum generously gave me lots of family jewelry this weekend,
including this antique clock key made into a pendant.
My fave nail polish method.
I hope your Mondays were better than mine. Mine was rather horribly dramatic on many fronts, all the more reason to share it at Not Dead Yet Style’s Visible Monday. Shine on, all y’all!

    • Thank you, Brett. I have a ton of stuff from Goodwill and Salvation Army that hasn't made it to the blog yet – I'm trying hard to wear something secondhand almost every day, to show that there are great career clothes donated, just waiting for the right savvy shopper to find them.

  1. Oh, no, I hope your Tuesday will be better!

That dress is fantastic! After a few more wearings it will be practically free. The necklace and nail polish are so cool, and perfect complements!

  2. You look gorgeous, Lynne! Vizzini does the same thing whenever the camera starts beeping. Silly bugger.

    Lovely necklace.

  3. Don't worry about the Hinder Parts, I am familiar with the issue of Cat Bum in blog photos, happens a lot around here… I read the quote out to the kids this morning, and they all got it immediately, and agreed!
I LOVE your dress (even better for being a fabulous bargain) and the key pendant from your mum. One gold nail, you are a cool kid, Lynne – you must be, look at your stunning hair!
Hope the drama has passed, and that you and all your beloveds are OK. xxxxx

  4. We too are well familiar with Kitty Hinder parts in photos ("It's my best side. All my sides are my best side") Your dress is glorious and so are your hair, mani and gems. Sorry for the bad, really bad day. Hope the clouds are parting today.

Thanks for linking up to VM!

  5. Beautiful dress. Definitely worth more that $5!

When cats wake you up in the morning and then present their hind parts to you – my friend calls that "Button Face".

  6. I'm sorry that your kitty was misbehaving (I heard about the TP too! Naughty kitty!) and I am sorry your Monday has been dramatic. ๐Ÿ™ I hope your week is getting better! You look lovely in this pretty scarf print dress!

  7. I love the sight of a cat bum in the morning! That dress is gorgeous and so's the key pendant and hip nail varnish! Hope the week gets better for you! xxx

  8. Cats (both, and in varying degrees of cuteness) not nearly as interesting as you near perfect dress-shoes combo. So great, and that it's a value makes it even better. You have so come into your perfect hair-do as well. Looking lovely.

  9. Gorgeous design on that dress! It reminds me of a rococo octopus or something. The necklace and nails are just the frosting on the rococo octopus cake.

…I think my metaphors got a little away from me there. Regardless, I hope your week improves, and I'll be thinking of you!

  10. Lookin' super gorgeous, lady! I love your nails, and your shoes, and omg your hair.

I'm well familiar with the sudden-cat-bum photo. And the sudden back of head photo too.

  11. Such a pretty dress and your stylish shoes are the perfect accent. Love these colors on you, compliments your hair beautifully!

    blue hue wonderland

  12. Lovely dress, Lynne. The bargainous price makes it even lovelier, I like it when I can shock people wth bargainous tales. I may need to steal the painted nail idea ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hope the drama is over now and all is well xx
