Happy Holidaze (and GoodWill)

Happy Holidaze (and GoodWill)

You know what? Taking my outfit pics inside on a cloudy winter day last Sunday was rather inspired, because I haven’t had to think about what to wear this week.

The Deets: Jones New York sweater (GoodWill); Jones New York pleated skirt (Salvation Armani Army); Bjorndal ankle boots ($20! Rack Room); Wide belt (Amazon); Flower necklace (several years ago from a little jewelry boutique)

Thank you guys so much for all the thoughtful and supportive comments on this blog, as well as on Facebook. You always cheer me immensely. Visiting your blogs is a highlight of my day, checking in with my beautiful friends and having a bit of a chat.

The Teen is home and in good spirits, but we did get some disconcerting news from the hospital that we have to process, as well as keep a close eye on. I am so hoping that we’ll have a medically uneventful holiday, and that she’ll get to experience a holiday trip we’ve been looking forward to for ages.

My weakness for rhinestones is followed closely by my weakness for flower – and vintage dog – jewelry.

Practical Paralegalism is going on holiday, too, until after the first of the year. I want to thank all of you for being such a beautiful and inspiring part of my life, and wish you all the joy of the season (even if celebrating it is not your thing).

P.S. Don’t forget the giveaway for the Kirna Zabete for Target “stars” dress, size XL. Also, one of my goals for this blog is to do a periodic giveaway, likely of something I’ve thrifted. I promise to vary sizes, but much will depend on what The Thrifting Gods generously throw in my line of sight.

  1. I like your clothes, I like your smile, I like you. A trifecta of good things. Best wishes to you and your family, Lynne, for the happiest of holidays.

  2. I'm so happy the Teen is home and I hope you're able to process whatever the news was from the hospital. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas and are able to just unwind a bit from all you've been dealing with! I'll miss you until new year, but you deserve a break lady! Happy holidays and Happy New Year!!

  3. That is really cute and I love your hair in this. I'm growing mine out a bit because of you. 😉
Your pics look great inside. My house is so small I don't have a plain wall to stand in front of or very good lighting.

    Happy Holidays!

  4. Wait…you dressed up in all your outfits for the week on Sunday and took pix??? Or am I missing something??

I'm so glad the Teen is home and doing better!! Will be lifting her up in prayer that whatever the situation is it will turn out ok!

    Merry Christmas!

  6. Oh I do hope that you and your family have a very lovely and uneventful (as far as medical goes) holiday Lynne. You are so thoughtful and I don't know how you do all that you do. I got your package yesterday. I love it! Thank you sooooo much! Merry Christmas!

  7. Holly happidays, Lynne! Good luck with the trip, and I am looking forward to hearing good things about y'all and your clothes in the new year!

  8. Aww Lynne you know you always look gorgeous.

I'm glad the Teen is home and being closely monitored. I hope overall that she is FEELING better and letting Sasha Jane play nursemaid. She always was a snuggle bug.

Wishing you guys a very happy Christmas and a happy solstice!

  9. That skirt is so cute. You look like 10 years younger in it. You have great legs Lynne, to pull of skirts like these. I love your stripe sweater too and what a great belt. I have been feeling a lot like stripes, this week, myself.

Have a Great Pre-Christmas Weekend, Lynne!!

  10. You have three things going on there that I personally struggle with. 1) booties with skirts. 2) blue with black. 3) big belts.

Well done! I'll try to be braver next week.

  11. Enjoy your time off!
I'm happy that the teen is home, I hope for a speedy recovery for her and peace of mind for you.
Rest well and see you next year!

  12. Your booties and that belt really crank this up. Love it.
I'm cheering that The Teen is home. Yay!! You're set for a real holiday now, your whole family. May it be the best. See you in '13.

  13. Happy Holidays Lynne, and my very best wishes to your family. I am glad that the Teen is home and hope she stays well. Reading your blog is always one of the highlights of my day, starting mine earlier in the year and sharing conversations is so much fun.

Am loving the blue outfit! It is a colour I can't help wearing in monchrome!

  14. What a stylish send off you've given us, so classy with a smack of sassy – just the way we like it. Happy to hear the teen is back at home and that you're taking time off for concentrated family holidaysing. Wishing you all well.

  15. Thank goodness your lovely girl is home, I am wishing her well for the holidays.
You look as gorgeous and elegant as always, Lynne, love the stripes and navy.
I am such a fan of your blog, Lynne, it's one of my faves, because it just radiates style and warmth and intelligence and humour – all the qualities I value in my friends!
Have a happy Christmas, and enjoy your trip. xxxx

  16. Thanks a lot Lynne for your recent comment on my Red Sweater post. =) Your comment or question rather of "I know getting the baby's closet together was great fun – will she be getting her own fashion blog? :)" made me laugh and smile. I will definitely take some photos of the baby's closet/dresser and show you some of her clothes. And yes I will post baby photos of hers every now and then. Of course, she will be Mamma's Princess!!

Have a Lovely Sunday and hope your daughter is home, not at the hospital. Hugs for this Christmas <3 Ada.

  17. I'm wishing you and yours a very JOYFUL holiday time- and yet I know regardless of news, you and your loved one have a warm place of support and love for eachother- joy can always be found in that.

You look lovely- the skirt length is perfect and I love the navy on navy play of hem and tights. The booties make you chic as a Sunday, and that smile if the best accessory a woman can possess. xo! Bella Q

  18. Lynne,

So sorry! I didn't know about your daughter's illness until now. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones.
You are looking as lovely as always. Enjoy your holiday with family.
    Merry Christmas!

  19. I've been keeping thoughts of The Teen and you and your family close to my heart, together with the hope that your holidays are going as well and joyfully as possible!

Here you are again doing that excellent mix of structure and softness which suits you so beautifully. Thank you dear Lynne for your amazing warmth, honesty, humour, and style, and the brilliance in you always shining through. You are an inspiration to me on all counts, and I'm forever grateful to you for encouraging me to start blogging, though you didn't even know it at the time. xo
