Paralegal Association Co-Hosts Charity Event

The Central Florida Paralegal Association and Dress for Success Greater Orlando are hosting a seminar, “A New Year, A New You: Nail that Job Interview” on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Mall at Millenia’s Community Room. Lisa Maile, an image consultant and coach, is the featured speaker. Tickets for the event are $25.00 each, with all proceeds being donated to Dress for Success.

Dress for Success provides business clothing and accessories to low-income women in need of appropriate interview clothes. In previous years, donations were sufficient to serve its clientele, but the current downturn in the economy has increased the number of women needing suits.

“Because of the economy our services are needed more than ever,” said Maria Mendel, the group’s board president. “We’re thinking about what the need is going to be.”

Mendel has watched the transformation that overcomes Dress for Success’ clients many times. She can tell the exact moment it happens, when the doubt and hesitation begin to give way to a quiet confidence.

“She may be wearing jeans and a T-shirt, and then she’s standing in front of a mirror wearing a business suit and a strand of pearls and you can see her shoulders lift and that spark,” Mendel said.
