The Blog Formerly Known As Practical Paralegalism
If you’ve read Practical Paralegalism for a while, you know that I view Fridays as not just business casual, but “business nightgown”, i.e. super comfortable, feel like you’re wearin’ your pjs style (unless there are court-related activities, and then scratch this whole opening sentence, and dig out a suit and maybe your long lost pantyhose). You have to not look like you’re wearin’ your pjs, because you do need that next paycheck.
I’ve followed the mullet skirt trend with interest, but pretty much view it as a kind of dramatic short to long skirt style that would not be well-received in most conservative offices, or do a lot for many middle-aged office staffers.
But I recalled that I did have a Maggy L polyester faux wrap dress with a little short/long action going on, and that I hadn’t worn it much (last worn here). I paid about $11 for it, and wondered if it was time for it to go, because of the extra bright pattern (for me) and what I viewed as limited styling options.
But it was a little cool this morning, and I’d been ready to try Psyche at Economy of Style’s chic pairing of tee-shirts over dresses. I also wanted to get my older clothes back in rotation, including a black Tahari tee-shirt that hasn’t seen the outside of my closet since I fell off the Funeral Chic path. I used one of my friend Megan’s MMD button flowers to cinch the tee over the dress.
And what do you know, I fell in love with the dress again, because of the great colors for faux ginger heads (ginger re-charging it tomorrow), and the easy fit.
Even after I took off the tee at home, I decided I still loved the dress, and it can stay in the closet, partly because no matter how squished it gets, it never wrinkles.
Worn a mullet skirt to the office yet? Or anywhere? 🙂
