Paralegal Career Dressing: Grandma’s Jacket & Jeans

Paralegal Career Dressing: Grandma’s Jacket & Jeans

Yesterday was a dark and stormy day (this is critical because I did NOT pee on the porch in this picture), and I had appointments outside of the office. We are allowed to wear jeans to work (but not to court-related activities, of course), so it seemed like an excellent day to wear my favorite Merona trouser jeans and my Anthropologie grandma jacket, which you’ll recall I had to crawl on my hands and knees to purchase. It might be one of the most expensive items I own ($40!) but it goes with everything.

Anthropologie jacket (clearance); Merona jeans (Target); Tee ($6 – Burlington Coat Outlet); Booties (Ross)

The lining is so beautiful, I’m tempted to wear it inside out.

New hair means new earrings, right? (Steinmart glass earrings, @$6 with coupon)

A great jacket can really dress up a pair of jeans.

Are you allowed to wear jeans to work?

  1. Jeans are the norm. It is not unusual to see my boss running around in shorts and barefoot. We have a very casual office. Being that it is a bankruptcy practice, it makes the clients feel comfortable (makes me comfortable too since I don't have to spend a fortune on "formal" office attire).

  2. Great outfit! I'm so jealous you get to wear jeans. But I've compensated by having several comfy pairs of black pants. Love your hair, too! Doesn't it feel great? Do you love it?

  3. Not only is that an ADORABLE outfit…but I love love love the the rooster behind you!

Our office is fairly casual as well (workers' comp…we don't have many clients ever in the office) and so I usually wear trouser style jeans at least once a week. I think that I have right base pieces…I just need more accessorizing. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Sharon – That rooster is a BIG LOTS find 🙂

I love accessories more than shoes (as you will be able to tell with a few more career dressing posts 🙂 Send pics when you're wearing one of your inspired outfits!

  5. I collect roosters! I just scored a fabulous mid-century ceramic deviled egg platter with a rooster in the center…I am originally from the south and you know we all have to have a great deviled egg plate! =)

I'll post as soon as my inspiration moves from my head to action!

  6. Thank you for posting this! I am attempting to secure a position in the paralegal field (with an AAS degree but no experience, ouch) and have a difficult time putting together office-appropriate outfits that won't send my bank account into a death rattle. You look fabulous!
