Paralegal Career Dressing: Visible Monday & Denim Snakes at the Office

I set out to get out of my conservative style zone and acquire a cool pair of animal print, say leopard meeeeoowwww or roaarrrrarhhhh (or something like that), heels for the office, and ended up with a pair of grey snake Liz Claiborne Flex pumps instead. I dunno, they look like a versatile neutral to me.

I bought them from a local discount shoe store, which may explain why I can’t find an online link, and why there were no leopard offerings in this super-comfy brand. Actually, I tried on many leopard heels and didn’t like the way they looked on me.

I already had a snake skin print blouse to go with. Not Yet Dead Style‘s Visible Monday, I’m slitherin’ in! (Of course, Patti’s a tiger today πŸ™‚ Oh, and I’m wearin’ a denim pencil skirt I think you could get away with even in most conservative offices.

Why this weird pose? I’m smoothing down the wrinkles in my skirt from sitting all day. Real women have wrinkles, ya know.

Liz Claiborne pumps (Shoe Carnival); AB Studio blouse ($8 at Ross last year?); Rafaella pencil skirt ($16 at Marshalls last year); Super long chain of freshwater pearls (Christmas gift from a bestie)
Last wearing of these dang pantyhose – stuck my finger right through them first thing πŸ˜›
LAL jacket ($10 from Marshalls’ clearance rack years ago). I almost GoodWill’d this jacket but it was a great cover-up today. Cold!
Stylish Band-aid. Sliced finger recycling. Might have been the same one I struck through my hose…

Do you wear animal or reptile print shoes to work?

  1. Loove the pumps, so gorgeous. Grey has quickly become my neutral of choice.

Re your comment on my blog: I personally have bought all my Fluevogs off ebay or online shops. I don't know where the closest shop to me that even sells them would be, but I'm willing to bet it's at least a state over. The Fluevog website/fans leave pretty good feedback on fit so I've been confident ordering online and have only once gotten a pair that didn't fit perfectly… and that was my own fault for ordering a size larger because it was all that was in stock.

(Also not sure if you're a Trekker or into the Star Trek movies, but Cumberbatch is going to be in the next Star Trek movie out in Summer 2013, and Sherlock Season 3 should be coming up right around winter 2013 if we're lucky. Keep an eye out for these English actors, they're cropping up in so many movies, I can hardly keep up!)

  2. Ha, I love the idea of you "slithering" in! The pumps are beautiful! And I like the jacket–good thing you did not take it to Goodwill as it adds an interesting contrast color.

  3. Very lovely! That blouse is so flattering with your coloring. And I'm a big fan of the denim pencil skirt — yours is a bit more tailored than any I've owned, and I love it! Perfect for work.

  4. Super chic look. I really like your top and have something similar – good reminder that I've only worn it once so I'll add it to my 'wear it' list πŸ™‚

  5. @Megan Mae ~ Thanks! I do like those shiny snake skin pumps a lot. Thanks for the Fluevog advice. I will be checking them out online.

Now everybody will know, but when I was a kid, I thought I was going to grow up and elope with Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) I was a strange kid.

  6. @Terri ~ I bought the jacket when I was 20 lbs heavier, and thought it might kind of swamp me now. But I'm glad I gave it another shot. I like it a lot.

  7. Love the pantyhose. Never quit wearing them. They give you that well-dressed look. They add class to your outfit. Nothing worse than bare legs.
