Rosemarie Scordamaglia, a freelance paralegal and Social Security disability advocate in Holiday, Florida was awarded a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Kaplan University. (Tampa Tribune)

▪Sabrina Lugo successfully completed NALA’s two-day CLA/CP examination. She is among 3,918 paralegals in Florida and 15,378 nationwide who have attained the certification for legal assistants and paralegals. Lugo works for Collins, Maynard & Associates in Sarasota. (Sarasota-Herald Tribune)

▪Cynthia Lavoie of Laconia, Illinois, received an associate degree in paralegal studies from Kaplan University. Bob Waters of Belmont, Illinois, received a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies from Kaplan University. (Laconia Citizen)

▪Ohio paralegal Gary Platton, employed by Ulmer & Berne LLP, has been appointed the Vice President of Outreach by the International Paralegal Management Association (IPMA).

As the Mass Tort Manager in Ulmer & Berne’s Cincinnati office, Gary is responsible for managing the product liability paralegals, directing paralegal work assignments, and performing high-level paralegal assignments when requested, such as preparing for and assisting at trials. Gary graduated from the College of Mount St. Joseph with a B.A. in Paralegal Studies and currently serves on the paralegal advisory board for that institution.


▪Charlotte B. Northeast, Litigation Paralegal for Klehr, Harrison, Harvey, Branburg & Ellers LLP in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been recognized by Cambridge Who’s Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in litigation.

As a litigation paralegal for Kler, Harrison, Harvey, Branburg & Ellers LLP, Northeast is responsible for managing technical and e-discovery platforms as well as case studies in electronic formats, coordinating and loading subject matter files, conducting document searches, attending meetings, and overseeing strategic organization and project management. She became involved in her profession because of her interest in law, and she attributes her success to the education she received from her schools and to the support she receives from other attorneys who are her mentors.

Northeast received her Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies from Pierce College in Philadelphia, PA. She is also a member of the Actors’ Equity Association, as she works as an actor, writer and sometimes as an assistant director in the thriving Philadelphia theater scene.
