Job Title: Litigation Paralegal

Employer: Berger & Montague, P.C., Philadelphia, PA

Years of Paralegal Experience: 27

Specialty Areas: Securities Class Actions, Complex Litigation

Career Highlight: Recently being nominated for a board position on the Philadelphia Association of Paralegals.

Paralegal Practice Tip: Own up to your mistakes. In 27 years I have had plenty of time to make mistakes – and I did! I think I have made every mistake in the book at least once. Learn from your mistakes. Owning up to your mistakes gives you credibility.

What made you decide to start your blog, Paralegal Pie?

According to my last Social Security statement I can’t retire until I’m 93 so I embraced the latest technology and I wanted to share what I learned with other paralegals. Knowing the latest technology will keep you employed. I also like to share some hard learned lessons on playing nice with other paralegals and what makes a paralegal valuable to a firm.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

I have been a paralegal my entire adult life (well I was a bartender and an airline ticket person too) and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I enjoy sharing my experiences and hope they help other paralegals.

Favorite Internet Resource: Honestly, my favorite Internet resource is Yahoo! Deal of the Day. My second favorite Internet resource is good old Google. It’s always a great starting place.

Favorite Legal Software: My favorite legal software is CheckCite. I remember the days when cite checking meant sitting in a law library for a week. So every time I use CheckCite I am amazed at how much time and work it saves me.

Fun Fact: I am a huge True Blood fan – I love Eric Northman.

Favorite Quote: “Stay in your lane.” (This applies to the highway and life.)

I know you think I’m getting ready to say that I met Kim through Twitter, but I actually met her through LinkedIn and her excellent blog, Paralegal Pie. I sent her an invitation to connect on LinkedIn after reading one of her Law Technology articles at The Legal Intelligencer. Don’t miss her most recent article, “Paralegals, Take a Walk on the Cloud“.

We also share a passion for True Blood, although my vampire “crack” isn’t Eric. My heart stops beating for Bill…
