The Blog Formerly Known As Practical Paralegalism
Specialty Areas: Paralegal: Personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death. Private investigations incuding background checks, criminal backgrounds, asset checks, due diligence, missing persons, adoption searches. Process Serving: All areas.
Career Highlight: I was the paralegal on the first-ever wrongful death case in which a jury verdict was obtained against OSHA in Arizona for $1,000,000. I have recently worked on a missing persons case which was very interesting and out of my usual realm.
Future Professional Goal: It is fluid and I am enjoying every new thing we do. I am hoping to incorporate my upcoming degrees into a full-service consulting firm for civil and criminal cases, including jury selection and investigations.
Paralegal Practice Tip: Always look at the case from the opposing view, it will help the attorney and the case more than you know! I have always pointed out the weaknesses in a case as opposed to telling the attorney how great the claim is!
Favorite Way to Deal with Work-Related Stress: I go antiquing with my best friend and hang out with my 16-year old daughter!
Greatest Strength As a Legal Professional: I think my greatest strength is my ability to see things from many different angles and assist the attorneys and firms we deal with in many different ways.
Favorite Internet Resource: I have so many resources that I use from pay-as-you-go services down to the freebies such as Facebook, you would be surprised at how many people you can find and find out dirt on from Facebook! Watch what you put out there people!
Favorite Social Media Site: Facebook, for the reasons I stated above and because I get to see what all of my old and new friends are up to without having to take time for lunch!
Last Book You Read: Patricia Cornwell’s latest along with Janet Evanovich’s latest!
Cat or Dog Person: I have a Manx cat named Murdoch, he is a large-boned feline who thinks he is as svelte as a ballet dancer and is Superman!
