Practical Paralegalism’s Recommended Reading this Week

I blog for paralegals, legal assistants, legal secretaries, legal staffers by any other name, paralegal students and educators – and the attorneys who want to get to know us better. I try to share information they might find helpful for professional development, or just a much needed laugh during a hectic week working for lawyers. Once the week (or less often when Life happens), I share links to a half dozen or so articles focusing on legal news and humor, professionalism and career dressing, and practice tips and technology.

I also share links of interest at Practical Paralegalism’s Facebook page and via my Twitter feed, @ExpertParalegal.

Major chop this week. And also so you’ll know what I really look like 🙂

Here’s this week’s links:

Dear Lying Plaintiff” (Mom-alegal’s Blog) ~ This is really funny. Unless it’s your client.

10 things a paralegal is NOT” (Superlegal Fun) ~ I confess I’m number 4. My teenagers can’t drive yet, and man, their social and extracurricular activity schedule is killin’ me. I go by “James” after work.

How to Deal with a Crying Client” (Divorce Discourse) ~ File this under more stuff they don’t teach you in paralegal school.

Justbeamit Makes Transferring Large Files Super-Easy” (Lifehacker) ~Anyone tried this service? I’ve also heard good things – and used – sendthisfile, http://www.sendthisfile.com/, and youSENDit, https://www.yousendit.com/.

Get 50 GB FREE from Box.net” (Lawyerist.com) ~ That is a helluva lot o’ storage. I’m checking it out.

Six Tips to Getting Started with a Paperless Office” (Small Firm Innovation) ~ My favorite quote from this post is, “Skip that big beast of a file.”  You do not have to tell this paralegal twice.

My iPhone says the darndest things (thanks to Siri)” (Technolog) ~ Siri is “not that kind of personal assistant,” peeps. But I still want her.

That’s why I’m not allowed to be here unsupervised” (The Bloggess) ~ Jenny makes me laugh even on my worst days. Plus, this post does have the word “lawyer” in it.
