Canadian paralegal student Tina Tomashiro will receive a Courage to Come Back award from Coast Mental Health “for overcoming injury, illness and adversity and for inspiring those around them while doing so” on April 30. Ms. Tomashiro, office manager at Pivot Legal Society, is managing her depression and paranoid schizophrenia with the correct medication and self-awareness, and has completed four of her 11 paralegal courses. “I was totally unemployable four years ago because of my mental health, because of self-esteem. I had low self-worth, very little support,” she said. (The Province)
