Today’s Quote: Do We Really Want a Mother’s Day Without the M-Word?
“I’d like to not hear the word ‘mom’ for 24 hours. I want a day off from being CEO of the household, where I don’t have to think about who has to go where and what has to be done by when.” ~ Elizabeth Crippen, a West Palm Beach paralegal with two boys, ages 10 and 11.
Hmmmm, being a mom sounds a whole lot like being a paralegal, with the constant thinking about who has to go where and what has to be done by when. No wonder she wants a day off.
I didn’t even think of asking my kids not to wail or whine “Mom” for a WHOLE day (an hour seems like a lot), but it would be awesome if they would ask me what I want for dinner for a change – or demonstrate that they really do know how to turn the vacuum cleaner on.
What do you want for Mother’s Day? Peace and quiet? Flowers and chocolate? Someone else to unload the dishwasher?
