Today’s Quote: Laughing It Up About Those Impossible Demands

Certainly, there are secretaries and paralegals out there who know how to practice law better than the lawyers they work for. But they don’t — practice law, that is. And if you don’t actually stand in those wingtips, it’s just not the same. Nothing unique about that. When’s the last time your secretary had a good laugh with you about the impossible demands you put on her? Never, that’s when. That conversation was reserved for her secretary friends. ~ “The Rodent” (an anonymous South Florida legal professional) discusses the lonely life of a sole practitioner in the article, “Sole Practitioners: One is the Loneliest Number”.

Awww, thanks for the compliment, Rodent.

(Hmmm, the anonymous-legal-professional-with-a-blog-or-a-column-in-a-major-legal-publication seems to be the cathartic flavour du jour. But I guess it’s too late to start over with an anonymous paralegal blog, and if I did, what would I be? The Paralegal Tattler? The Rat Fink Paralegal? The Shadow Ninja Paralegal?)

So is anyone out there laughing it up with the boss about the impossible demands he or she places on you?
