Practical Paralegalism shares many annual paralegal association awards recognizing outstanding legal support staffers, but it’s also nice to share a neat twist in the recognition department from the Kansas City Legal Secretaries Association (KCLSA) which gives a Boss of the Year Award. The 2010 recipient is Anne-Linton Pond Hendrickson, an associate with Van Osdol & Magruder P.C.The Biggest Little Law Firm® in Kansas City.
Bob Beachy, president of Van Osdol & Magruder P.C., said, “It is an honor awarded only to those in the legal community who work well with others and show an appreciation to their support staff over and above what is expected. It is truly a badge of honor for Anne and our firm as it indicates not only Anne’s dedication to the legal field in the community, but the relationship she enjoys with her secretary.”
Hendrickson specializes in criminal law, estate planning, family law, labor and employment, and litigation. In 2008, she received the KCMBA Young Lawyers Section’s Award and the Lawyers Association of Kansas City’s Public Service Award. She’s clearly a talented and dedicated attorney – and a great boss.
I’m going to start an Open Thread in the comment section of this post for my readers who also think they work for an attorney deserving of a Boss of the Year Award. What makes your boss so great to work for? I’ll start. I have two wonderful supervising attorneys, J. Griffin Morgan and Helen L. Parsonage. (Helen gets extra points for the eight years she worked as a paralegal, and for reading my blog. Griff gets extra points for letting me write a book. Wait, I think they just cancelled each other out.) They treat everyone on the team as valued equals, encourage continuing education, and are terrific and patient mentors.
