Robert Half Legal Survey Forecasts Increased Legal Hiring

A new survey by Robert Half Legal for its quarterly Legal Hiring Index indicates that 29% of the 200 lawyers interviewed plan to hire additional legal personnel during the second quarter of 2011. The fastest-growing specialty areas are litigation, general business/commercial, and bankruptcy/foreclosure law.

“The business environment remains competitive, and law firms are adding staff to help them expand their client base and enhance service offerings,” said Charles Volkert, executive director of Robert Half Legal. “Law firms, in particular, are hiring on a full-time and project-basis to keep up with growing business demand in hot practice areas such as litigation.”

Associates with five years of experience will be the most sought after staff, followed by paralegals and legal secretaries.

Of course, the increase in job openings for legal professionals will vary depending on where you live. Are any of you seeing more want ads for paralegals, legal assistants, and legal secretaries in your area?
