Texas paralegals and legal secretaries looking for an opportunity to volunteer should contact Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas about its upcoming veterans’ clinics in Big Spring on May 4 and in Midland on May 13. The clinics will provide free legal advice and counsel for veterans and are funded by a grant from a State Bar of Texas program, Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans.

My West Texas reports that paralegal and legal secretary volunteers are needed for the clinics. LANWT’s volunteer page indicates they are needed for a variety of contributions:

Paralegals, Legal Assistants, and Legal Secretaries conduct intake eligibility screening at our community legal clinics, draft pleadings under the volunteer attorney’s supervision, conduct legal research and perform administrative functions.

I expect legal staffers that are also notaries will be especially welcome.
