Name: Tammy Edwards
Job Title: N.C. Certified Paralegal
Employer: Bell, Davis & Pitt, P.A., Winston-Salem, NC
Years of Paralegal Experience: The number is too high to remember! LOL. Seriously, I was working for an attorney in his basement when I was in high school! I suppose that means 34 years.
Education/Degrees: I went to college for one year, and quit to get married at the age of 19.
Specialty Areas: Civil Litigation, Collections, Construction Law
Career Highlight: Obtaining my paralegal certification in 2007
Future Goals You’re Working Toward: To be a better person – always – and of course to be better at my job. You’re never too old to learn.
Paralegal Practice Tip: Before putting a file away (I know – we still use the dreaded paper ones), I always ask myself, “What is the next thing we need to do in this matter?” Then I put a follow-up reminder on my calendar.
Favorite Internet Resource: I have so many! If I had to choose only one, I suppose it would be the AOC’s website: http://www.nccourts.org/
Favorite Legal Software: Time Matters, http://experience.lexisnexis.com/exp8-time-matters-brand?ppcid=136965_p82390182&WT.srch=1&optify_r=ppc&optify_rd=time+matters
Do you use social media resources, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or blogs, for career and/or case development? Yes.
Fun Fact About Me: A co-worker calls me “Yoda,” because she comes to me to get answers about civil procedure and collection of judgments. It’s a nice name, as long as she doesn’t say I have a physical resemblance!

Recipe Your Family Begs You to Cook: Spaghetti
One Gadget You Can’t Live Without: My Droid and my computer (oops, that’s two!)

Many thanks to Tammy, one of my hometown paralegals, for her willingness to complete a profile for Practical Paralegalism and to share a little about herself with you guys. Featuring paralegals and other legal support staffers is one of the main reasons I blog, and posting a weekly professional profile is a great way to do that. Whether you’ve been working as a legal support staffer for a year – or many more than that – Practical Paralegalism welcomes your profile, and your four-leggeds’ pics!
